Crystal Buhler, Justice Services Manager

Crystal embarked on her journey with Community Works in 2014 as a courthouse volunteer. Her dedication led to a full-time role as a Court Advocate in 2015. In 2018, Crystal’s commitment and expertise earned her a promotion to the Lethality Assessment Project Manager (LAP), collaborating closely with local law enforcement agencies and high lethality referrals. When Community Works launched its Justice Services Program in 2022, Crystal stepped into the managerial role, overseeing co-located advocates stationed at various law enforcement agencies and courts.

Driven by her personal experience as a survivor, Crystal is deeply passionate about advocacy. “I’m a survivor myself; I understand the feeling of isolation and fear. I aim to be that face and voice of support, ensuring survivors know they’re not alone.”

Outside of work, Crystal cherishes moments spent with her husband and their four dogs, whether exploring the woods or riding her quad on the Oregon Dunes. She finds solace in floating in rivers and lakes and indulges in camping adventures.

“Community Works has provided me with a unique opportunity to leverage my life experiences and transform past pains into connections, guiding others toward safety and healing.”

“‘If you want to know where to find your contribution to the world, look at your wounds. When you learn how to heal them, teach others.’  -Emily Maroutian
